During childbirth, several tensions and compressions of tissues and joints can occur in both the mother and the baby. Osteopathy works by releasing these compressions, allowing the baby to develop smoothly and for the mother to have a quick recovery, even avoiding postpartum depression that can be caused by a compression of the hip generated during childbirth. The indications for a follow-up for the newborn are: crying a lot for no reason, or soon after waking up, tendency to hyperextend, general irritation and tension, asymmetry of the head and body in general, torticollis, tendency to keep the head only to on the one hand, difficulty in sucking, difficulty opening the mouth fully, colic, reflux, among others. It is also indicated when the expulsion phase in childbirth was too short or too long, or if any type of aid was used in childbirth, both the use of forceps, suction cups … and the use of anesthetics. The role of osteopathy in pediatrics extends following the child’s growth, observing motor and neurocognitive development. Indications are: scoliosis, poor motor coordination, dental dysfunctions, lack of concentration, urinary incontinence, pain in general, ….
